Mr Ubaid ur Rehman Awan was born, at a village named ‘Rikhi’ in district Mianwali of Pakistan’s Punjab province, on 15th of July 1977.

He is the author of a book on Cricket, titled “First Sixer” published in February 2015 before the ICC World Cup, jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

He is currently working with “ABB TAKK”, a satellite news channel, as a sports reporter. He has done thousands of local and International news stories and assignments for “Abb Takk News”, “Samaa News” and other organisations.

Ubaid ur Rehman got his early education from Government High School, Rikhi (Namal) before moving to Karachi with family. He did his M.A in Mass Communication in Karachi.

In 1999, he joined “Sports Times”, a monthly cricket magazine and later moved to “Cricket Herald” in 2002.

Ubaid ur Rehman worked for ‘Daily Jurra’t’ newspaper in Karachi from 2003 to 2005 before joining “Metro One TV” where he stayed till 2007.

In October 2007, Ubaid Awan moved to newspaper, “Daily Aaj Kal”. In May 2009 he joined a Punjabi language news channel, “Apna TV”

Ubaid worked with “News One TV” for a short period from April 2010 to May 2010.

With “Samaa TV”, his association span was between June 2010 and November 2015.

In November 2015, Ubaid moved to the USA and worked for USA based channel, “Asia Tribune” from December 2015 till March 2017.

Upon his return to Pakistan, Ubaid Awan joined “Abb Takk News” in April 2017 and working there till date.

To discharge professional duties, Ubaid Awaraveled to United States of America (USA), United Kingdom (UK), Australia, New Zealand, Turkey, Malaysia, China, Sri Lanka, Thai land and United Arab Emirates (UAE). He covered Cricket, Hockey, Boxing and other sports.

Ubaid Awan is the founder of Sports Journalists Association, Sindh (SJAS). He initiated SJAS in 2008 to look into the problems faced by Sindh based Sports Journalists. He gathered the journalists of Sindh on one platform. Ubaid Awan served as the General Secretary, of SJAS, from 2011 till 2015 and now is the vice President of the body.

He is also the member of Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) since 2007 and also a member of International Sports Press Association (AIPS) from 2012 to till date.
